The CompTIA RFID+ beta exam (exam code RF1-001) goes live Monday, Oct. 31, 2005 .

Leading RFID experts say there is a worldwide lack of skilled RFID integrators. Estimates show that more than 60,000 businesses are under RFID mandates, but less than 100 solution providers are currently capable of delivering effective RFID solutions. This is a great opportunity to become a CompTIA RFID+ certified professional and prove you have the in-demand skills employers are looking for.

CompTIA RFID+ is the global standard of competency for entry level RFID professionals. It was created for the industry with the support of RFID industry leaders such as American RFID Solutions, AIM Global, Briljent, DHL, FC Business Systems, IBM, Intermec, International Paper, Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis, ODIN technologies, OTA Training, Printronix, RFID4U, @RFID Focus, RFID Global Solution, RFID Journal, ScanSource, Sparkice, Symbol Technologies, Texas Instruments and Zebra Technologies.

The beta exam costs only $75 – a 66 percent discount off the price of the regular exam – and you will receive your certification for passing this exam.

Well, I just took the RFID+ beta. Not a bad eam. Not nearly as tough as I thought it would be. You will find it advantagious if you have a radio background (I do). Focused on the frequency requirements of various tags, antenna configuration and placement. A little on international standards. The beta was 115 questions. If they cut it down to 80 or so, it should be a pretty fair exam. Not your usual CompTIA quiz but a fair exam, if you're ready for it. ExamCram was supposed to have their book out right before the beta ended but they didn't make it. So it will be a shotgun approach to the exam objectives. Looking at the exam objectives, it looks like a pretty scary exam but I didn't find it to be as bad as I expected.

Lots of good resources can be found on the net. Just do a few good searches and you'l get there.

There's lots of info out there, you just have to find it.
I'll give a review of the ExamCram book if they ever get it out. It's the typical rush to be the first on the shelves.
