Is anyone using RFGen (by DataMax)? I am looking for other alternatives which compare to RFGen's ease in designing screens for use in scanning barcodes.

Well on the HP Printers just make an Access report the same size and your Label. then use "Specific Printer" option in "Page Setup" to print to it.
What kind of barcode is it? Code 39, UPC etc.
If its a code 39 or UPC you can use these barcode fonts to make the barcodes.

The other printer, Data max. See if there is a manual for it that shows "escape" codes to control it. (this is a not very productive but its FREE. Other wize you need a special Barcode Program to print to it. Look at Label Matrix here.
.
you can download a Demo if you like
