Hi, can someone please tell me a good but inexpensive cable/rf meter.(what the cable co's use to check signals) It should be one of the newer digital types with the LCD screen.. Anyone know of a place to get used ones. Alredy checked EBAY... Thanks Jake

Jake,

My favorite brand (and the brand you'll see most cable system technicians use) is Sadelco. They make two different versions, one that is more simple for installers, and one that has more information for maintanence techs. I prefer the minimax because it's a lot easier to get what you need, although the higher end model does give you a snapshot of a channel plan.

Sadelco units are very tough, I've droped one from about 16 feet once when a gaff slipped and it fell out of my ditty bag, so I thought that was a good measure of test.

You can find them on eBay for around 300 dollars, although I would reccomend calibration.

They check analog as well as digital channels. If you're doing any type of installation work, I'd highly reccomend a reverse (return) path meter.
