hwmgr -view device => shows

xx: /dev/ntape/tape0 COMPAQ SDT-xxxx bus-6-targ-8-lun-0

but using;

mt -f /dev/ntape/tape0 rewind

gives me this:

/dev/ntape/tape0 rewind 1 failed: No such device or address

any idea why?

the tape is now stuck under the drive and won't come out, even after pressing the button in-front of the drive (to eject).

solved. it's a defective tape drive!

do not change/replaced the tape drive while online. might cost you trouble. also,try to check tape status.
