When I installed Windows7 on my PC I kept XP on a separate Partition (same HDD). I now no longer need the XP boot option and would like to clear that partition for other purposes. How do I do that? Can I just reformat that partition, or should I do some other things first to ensure that there are no problems with booting straight into Windows7. Currently I am prompted to choose between XP and Win7 as the PC boots up, with Window7 as the default OS.
Thanks.

Watch out for the folder called Boot, and the file called bootmgr, they are the booting files for Windows 7 and if you lose them you will need to repair them via Startup Repair.

It may be necessary to show Both Hidden and System Files, and also to uncheck "Hide known file types" in Control Panel/ Folder Options/ View, to see the mentioned files.

You may have to remove the XP Partition outside of the Windows environment as that Partition may not be removable via Disk Management if it is the System Partition containing the boot files.
