In structure table I have part number and parent number.

Is there a way to get data of which end products each purchased part belongs to?

Part belongs to several sub assemblies, then these sub assemblies belongs each to different assemblies and assemblies belongs to end products:

part
subassembly1
assembly1
product1
product2
assembly2
product3
subassembly2
assembly3
product4
assembly4
product5
product6

Sub report withing another sub report should work here, but it's not supported. I'm out of ideas. Any help will be highly appreciated.

Can the data be grouped somehow. It is not clear how parts/sub-assemblies/assemblies are identified in the database.

Hi,

From my experience with multi-level bills of material (BOM), the usual database configuration is Part-Component. Each manufactured Part has a Component. The bottom of the BOM are Parts with no Components, which are purchased. The “assembly” “subassembly” notations are irrelevant to the BOM and are usually implied in the Part’s Nomenclature.

What you are looking for, is a Where-used report for Purchased Parts, which might also include raw material like bar or sheet stock. Unless your database has special views to display the Where-used End Item, you’ll need a programmer who can either write a RECURSIVE program (that’s a program that calls itself) or run a program that already exists.

And, of course, you have other factors that limit or control the usage of components such as effectivity, whic can be conrrolled by date or some effectivity number, or hardware substitutions via standards replacement. Depending on version, a Component may be used on an specific End Item in one instance and not another.

This is not a trivial report.
