Reverse Indexes

I have several large tables in an Oracle 8 database with primary keys that are sequence numbers. Has anyone ever created a primary key constraint forcing the index to be a reverse key index to eliminate "sliding indexes" (ie. old keys always deleted from one end of the b-tree and always added to the other)?

Also, would a reverse key index be less effecient than a regular index when using the indexed column in a BETWEEN comparison in the WHERE clause of a SELECT statement?

your question is not that clear however as per my example
Oracle suggest to use reverse indexes only when your
column begins with similar words
Reverse index reverses the word and on that word it creates an index.
I am maintaining some hotels database where name starts
with 'Hotel' or 'Cafe'
there to speed up search I have used reverse indexe on
name column. If you have something similar to it you
can go for it else it is better to use normal index
