Dear All,
We have a customer that has a problem sending email to certain recipients. We determined that the reason for the failure is the lack of reverse DNS record. Basically we need

Unfortunately the customers ISP refuse to create a reverse DNS entry for us that would solve the problem. (They insist instead that the entire company buy a hosted email solution instead).

Please any suggestion as to how to circumvent this is welcomed.

Thank you for your help

Yeah I second change ISP's. That is rediculous.

Instead of getting an RDNS record created, you could also start using a smarthost to send outbound mail. Ask the ISP what their smarthost address is and find out if they charge for using it. Most ISPs don't. But if they do, find someone else to purchase the service from, even if you don't change ISPs.

There are lots of places to purchase a smarthost relaying service from. I know that DynDNS has a MailHop relay service that I use for some clients, and I also have used DNSExit.com for this. Normally though I set up all my clients with hosted anti-spam solutions that include outbound smarthost, and I use that for the outbound sending. In my case, I use MXLogic\McAfee, but other people use Reflexions, ExchangeDefender, and other services.
