Reusing same animation on different symbols

Hi,

This might be a total newbie question, but I got so frustrated when I tried to work this.

Here's the case: I have this symbol "A" - I created a whole nice animation sequence of, say, "A" jumping across the stage and blinking.

Now I want to make an exact copy of this animation, only with symbol "B" taking "A"s place. I would then make small adjustments to "B"s path.

The only way I got it to work was to replace symbol "A" with symbol "B" using instance symbol replace *on each keyframe of the animation sequence*

There's just got to be a more automated way to do this.

Thanks in advance,

Guy.

In the Library, right-click the symbol and duplicate it. Give it another name. Then double-click the new symbol and edit it replacing A with B... Or whatever. Drag your new mc on stage, on it's own layer, and position it.

I'm still not sure I understand what you mean. I have a movieclip "MC" which uses symbol "A". Now I want a copy of that clip with symbol "B" instead of "A", but I don't want to manually replace every instance of "A" in "MC" with "B".

Is there a fast way to do that?

Thought your were using tweens with characters. If you're not, and using sort of frame by frame animation, guess your stuck with replacing each A by B's.
Otherwise, my first described method should work!
