Hi all,
I have an issue with my report, where I have 7 groups in the report which return data of 4 different regions, The first group is a program, then year, period etc. If some area is missing in one of the groups, It has to return as missing Area: None.
And other issue, Any option to keep the groups together, I tried the section expert option of keeping group together and group expert option, But I get a blank page with just the group name on it.

I tried creating another section and suppressing it, no luck.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

If you've got two unrelated issues, it is best to post two separate threads. Please do that next time. Meantime I will try to answer both.

For the first, a crosstab might meet your needs. If you don't know crosstabs, check them out for future use even if you don't need them just now.

An alternative might be to add area, period etc. as database items, if you can change the database or get it changed.

If you can't add a table, you'll be stuck with creating a 'Mock Crosstab'. Crosstabs are fine if you don't mind the absence of rows or columns with no data, but you said you wanted empty slots to show.

A 'Mock Crosstab' is something that looks like a Crosstab, but in fact you define each column yourself, normally as a running total. This would need to go in the report footer, because running totals count as the reports 'run' and they will not be complete until then. Crystal should have included an example along with the Crosstabs.

You can save a little time by doing a paste to a dummy report, changing the name and then pasting back. In Crystal 11.5, you can also duplicate formula fields using the Field Explorer.

For the second, perfect control is not achievable. You could start each group on a new page.

You could also check the left-hand margin, is there a blank section that is part of the group? Crystal will print any blank you leave, because in some cases it will be wanted. If it is not wanted, suppress it.

This is based on Crystal 11. It helps to give your Crystal version - 8, 8.5, 9, 10, 11 or whatever. Methods sometimes change between versions, and higher versions have extra options.

Thanks for the reply Madawc!
Sure, Next I will post saperately.

For the second issue, I fixed it, as the users requested a specific group to be kept together.

For the first one, I can't do a cross tab, I have to comeup with some thing different.

Thanks again!
