return type of java bean datasource

A typical java bean datasource should return a resultset for the crystal report.
Is there any other return types that it supports, like a JavaBean, Hashtable etc.
Moreover, can i pass the parameters as Vectors, Long etc.. other than String to the javabean datasource method.
Please help.
