Return to calling page with viewstate restored?

I want to have a "cart view" page with a link that returns to the page that called the "cart view" page. Additionally, I would like to see the calling page's viewstate restored to the condition when it called the "cart view" page.

I'm a bit lost on how to achieve this easily. Ideas?
