Is there a way to return the name of a control in a query column (using an expression or code?)so I could use it in a mail merge in Word.

I don't think that you can do it directly with a Select Into query. You'd have to create a field in your table to hold the data. Just before you run the query, you could store the data in the field. Perhaps somebody else knows another way to do it. If you want to do it the way that I suggested, you can refer to the name of the control with:

controlname.Name

If the control is on a form other than the active one, use this:

Forms!formname!controlname.Name
