I am trying to get an ASP.NET page to return a local machine name. I keep getting the server name instead.
I need to verify that the page is opening on an authorized PC. Management wants this done by PC not user.
Is this the best way to do this or is there a better way?

Thanks,
Brad

There is no way. ASP.NET is a server side language and as such, will return the server name, not the PC name.
You should talk to management and discuss with them that this is not a good approach and that access should be on a user basis, not PC. What good is authorizing a PC? Imagine that I walk away from my PC which has access to everything. Then someone comes by who has limited access on their PC. They see your PC unlocked, get on it and do all kinds of things they shouldn't. And who would be to blame, you, becuase it was done on your PC. Bascially there is no acountability with that structure.
If they really insist, then you may be able to get the name using javascript, but you would have to ask in that forum, although I strongly suggest you don't.
