Return focus to active document with userform still open

This should be a simple thing to do, but I can't seem to get it to work.

I have a non-modal userform with a button on it. I want to display the userform and keep it displayed while focus is returned to the document so I can edit it and then press the button on the userform to select a different part of the document to edit.

I thought that just calling Activate on the document would do this, but it doesn't seem to be working.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
