I'm working with an S8500 Media Gateway.

I'm wondering if there is a way to pick up a parked call without an Answer Back Access code. My boss remembers being in one of our sister agencies and not having to dial a code to pick up a parked call. He thinks that they are also using an Avaya PBX.

Thanks..

I got in touch with our sister agency, and I confirmed that they don't have to punch in a code to pick up a parked call. They just dial the extension that the call is parked on. I got a screen shot of their feature access codes, and the difference is they don't have a # sign before the numbers. Their Answer Back Access code is 61, and ours is #61. Their Call Park Access code is 66, and ours is #60. They do have a much older switch than us, so I'm not sure if maybe this is just something that has changed with a software upgrade.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

they must be pressing a key then dialing the ext the call is parked on, otherwise they would just be calling the parked ext. look for an auto dial key on the phones in this case 61, also check abbrv dialing system to see if 61 is programed, thats the easiest way to not dial an access code.

example: ext 1000 has system as abbrv dial list 3. 61 is programed as abrvd system 01. a button is programed on ext 1000 as abrvd 03 01, the user presses the button and then the parked ext.
