Hello,

I need to have some information on retrieving data from a Matrox, 4gb hard drive. It's read and write head has been damaged and it contains a life worth of scientific research work of my sister. A jealous coworker has been found guilty of it but in any case the thing is to get the data back, all or partial. Please suggest me if there is any company that works with this kind of situation!! It is so too much crucial, any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Time to do a web search on data retrieval.
Expect for it to be expensive.
Think data track was one company,. I'll try to dig out some others. Ed Fair

There are companies that do this,,,,,,, as they just tear apart the hard drive and remount the platters to retrieve data.

Last time I checked, 3 years ago, it was $2500 to start.
That's chump change for something like a "life(s) worth of scientific research work," especially if you can sue the bastard that did this.

****** ALSO - WAKE UP CALL...... how could she have been so foolish as to have this "life time's worth" of work on ONE computer ??
A $100 CD-RW would have prevented this,,,,,,, or even a ZIP-DRIVE........ and take those DISC's home.

A fire would have destroyed it all.

on-track. And not one but three backups, one in office , one in car, and one at home. And repeat it whenever enough has been changed to be uncomfortable losing it.
Local company charges $100 per mb. Ed Fair

I agree with you but that 'bastard' so high up in the univesity system that so far he is kind of 'GOD'. She had to leave on an oversease trip on 4 hours notice and could not take the backup cd with her. Of course, 'that bastard' made sure to get all the backups stolen from even her house. So this damaged hard drive is her only bet. Thanks you guys, I will do some more checking on the web.
