I have two tables linked by nominal code one is a master list with every existing code. The other is a transaction file which only holds transactions. Some codes exist and have values in the master file however no transactions exist so when selecting only the items which have transactions are returned. How do I retreive details in my master file

Hope you can help

Thanks

Pete

Peteho. If I get it right .You performed these steps.
You have a table with a primary key and another table that has a foreign key that references your first table.
You want to see all of the records in your first table (that has the primary key) even if they don't have records in the other table.
If that is the problem. It is very simple.Go to "Visual Link Expert" select your link line.Right click your mouse and select "left outer join".Left outer join will provide you to view all of te records in the first table.
BUT!If you are using selection expert.I mean if you add criterias in your table that has a foreign key.You must add the criteria <field-name> is null or <your selection>
If you have something not clear.Pls let me know :=)

Cheers

We sussed the left outer link but it was the isnull that was stopping us.

Cheers for your help

Pete
