has anyone got any good suggestion to retouch skin without using the soft clone tool or the stamp tool

You could try selecting all the skin area then do a soft focus or a guassian blur.

I also recommend you try the software here. The demo is fun to do and you can set it to 'improve' your portrait as much or as little as you like. It's quite clever.

I have to take the "shinys" off people in pics all the time. That's when they have a light mark from a flash reflection. This problem comes up all the time because TV shows take their publicity shots during dress rehearsal when the lighting is not set and the actors are not in makeup.

I drag from the darker area next to the reflection into the reflection. I've been using the smudge tool for this fix for many years.

I keep opacity at about 50% and put a slight feather on the brush.

The smudge tool can be used for a lot of skin fix ups but you have to play with it's various settings until you achieve a natural look.

Pick up the latest issue of Photoshop User, they have a good article on touching up skin.
