Our daily backups have a retention period of 30 days, and we have a Windows and a Unix pool. Backups start at 7pm and end after midnight. Problem I've been having, since 1/31, is that the retention period Legato calculates for the Windows pool is 2 days later than the Unix pool, even though they are both finishing at the same time. For example, last night's Windows tapes have a retention date of 3/16/03 while the Unix have a retention of 3/14. Does anyone know why Legato calculates the Windows to be two days later?

Backups will not expire if there are other backups that are dependant on it.

For example, a full backup will not expire unless all the incremental backups expire too.

I would look at your backup schedule to see how your backup cycle is setup.

(A backup cycle is a period that start with a full backup and finishes before the next full backup.)
