Can you describe methods that allow you to save information you type into a form when you protect a form

Do you mean a default answer for a particular field? Will the field also have other answer options besides the default answer? If you want a default answer in a text field, right click the text field and go to Properties. In the Default Text box, type what you want. This will always display that text, but allow the user to also key over it.

You can't fill out a form while it's protected, then unprotect it for whatever reason, and then protect it again. You will lose all data. What are you trying to do exactly and why, maybe that will help answer your question better.
