I was redesigning my resume and was wondering if it was a good idea to include my mcp #

Any suggestions?

I'd say, why not.. you earned it.. maybe you have say the exam you passed to get it. :)

Sorry for the bad english...

maybe you should say the exam you passed to get it.

I wouldn't put it on there. It is unecessary. Most HR people won't know what it is, and if they want to verify you they will ask for it...

Just my .02 cents...

Thanks,

I wouldn't put it on there. I'd just put that you're MCP certified, but go to Microsoft's web site and print a copy of your transcript/resume and keep a copy. Then if you get past HR with your resume, you can show the IT manager your M$ resume.

I agree with Overclocker. We study and worked hard to earn our MCP. Advertise that you have it but don't give it away. You don't put your social security number on your resume why would you put your MCP # ?

I have to say to put it on there. Thats like not putting your college degree on your resume. Why go to school for all these certs then hide them. True what Overclocker said about the HR dept not knowing but we have to make it known.

just my 2 cents..LOL

I want to say thank you to everyone who responded to my question. Guess I was wondering if there was any real draw back to putting my number. Haven't really decided what I will do but thanks for the different opions.

One more word. By all means advertise your MCP but I would not publish my number.. Why should I give some unauthorized person acess to tech info that I bust my hump to earn. Just remember the registration to the tech net site ... what got you in ..your MCP number. Why give an opportunity for identity theift.

don't build and use a generic resume... use custom resumes crafted for each opportunity...

don't just trust me, research...

also buy "Don't Send A Resume" and "What Color Is Your Parachute?" and read them and do what they say...

Good luck!!!
