Does anyone know of a way to restrict unauthorized clients from receiving IP Addresses from DHCP Servers in W2k. I know you can do it by reserving all IP's to MAC Addresses or totally ditching DHCP and statically assigning them, but I would like to know if there is a way in Windows 2000 to configure only Domain computers (Computers added to domain) to receive IP Addresses from DHCP.

Thanks

The closest thing to this that I know of would be (as you said) using reservations by MAC address. However, in addition, you could use exclusions to exclude ranges of IPs. By using exclusions, you could literally exclude the usage of any non-domain client IPs. And since you would be reserving your domain client IPs via MAC address, this would pretty much accomplish your goal.

How about creating a group in AD called DHCP and add only the machines to the group that you want to recieve ip's from dhcp there? Nobody that is not a member of the group would not recieve ip's from dhcp. Just a thought. Good luck.
