The operator is on duty from 8Am until 4PM. Is there a way to restrict outgoing calls from 4PM to 8AM on a Merlin Legend? I have WinSPM, but have limited knowledge. Thanks Joe

So... if you read the post immediately after this one....I spent all day fighting "call denied" messages on a system because calls were restricted after hours and I didn't know it. It is an option under "night service." I think (maybe someone can add to this) if you password protect your night service button, phones are restricted from outgoing calls unless you add them to an "excluded list". I am not sure that the password protection is what causes the sets to be restricted, but in the programming sheets they were on the same form. So...try password protecting the night service button, and then dial 9 from an MLX phone and see if the display says "call denied".

It's only the operator's phone that I want to restrict. Otherwise, I'd have to exclude over 100 extensions, and I'm not sure if that's feasible. I'm looking for the easier way. I'll have to look into the option you offer on Monday when I'm back to work. Thanks. - Joe

You didn't say what release you have. If you have (Legend)R5 or above you might consider using the authorization code feature. ARS Restrict her phone all the time except for 911. Put an Auth button on her set and have her enter her code for calling out. The code can be from 2 to 11 digits and verifiable...but if she does a lot of calling then it wouldn't be feasible. Forced acct code entry might work but it isn't verfiable numbers....eventhough it might be easier. If either one of these is not workable then I guess you get to enter those 100 extensions on your exclusion list. lg

I want to correct myself on the previous comment. Auth codes were introduced in R3 Legend not R5. lg
