Restricting Internet downloads on my wireless network.

Hi All;

I have a small wireless network at home and I am trying to set a download cap on one of the machines in my network that is getting some download abuse. I have full access to the router and machines.

Is there any tools out there (preferably free!) that could help me achieve this? Second prize would be a tool that restricts certain download types.

What wireless equipment do you have? If you have a Linksys WRT54G or any other on the compatibility list, you have lots of options aviailble as it gives you access to a lot of Linux capabilities, including iptables.

I haven't tried this since I have no need at this time, but depending on your level of expertise and time available, there is a thread in the DD-WRT discussion forum detailing what sounds like what you are trying to do. See:
