Restricting internet access on win 2000

Im wondering if someone can help me, im trying to restrict a user from using the internet on a pc running win2000. how can i do this.

If this machine connects to the internat through a proxy server you can just get rid of the proxy settings & then setup access restrictions to the proxy settings.
 
If however you do not have a proxy you could remove their permissions from the I.E exe as long as they don't have admin rights to the machine this will scupper their access.

Of course this has a high admin overhead for alot of stations.

Oh and the drive must be NTFS.
 
Use GPO, set the proxy setting to 127.0.0.1, hide internet connection properties.
You can make exception also, for example they're allowed to access *.tek-tips.* (up to 256 chars).
