We have a NEC Neax 2000 IVS system. We are using Hansen Cash call accounting software. We are getting alot of calls from people that have there caller id blocked. We want to restrict calls from people not sending caller id data. is there a way to do that at the PBX level. I talked with our telco and they said they cannot do that. it has to be set up at the PBX level. I just want verify that is true. Thanks

Caller ID routing was released with R4.1 software (2300 series) software on the IVS2. This feature allows you to route calls based on Caller ID up to 16 digits (international calls) or lack of caller ID.
Your IVS would have to be retrofitted to an IPS to get this feature (IVS2 nolonger available).
You would need to change the MP (CP0X)and FP cards (CP01) only and the database would have to be converted.
You'd also gain full IP capability with that upgrade as an added bonus.

Thanks alot, so just to make sure I understand what your saying, it can't be done by me with the current system we are using...

If you have NEAX IVS you will not be able to do caller ID routing. An upgrade to the IVS2 or IPS (Processor only) would allow you the feature.
You have to remember that the PBX you have was developed before most people even had caller ID let along routing based on the number received.
The good thing is other manufactures of products that old do not have the upgrade path available that NEC does. Most of my customers with other systems of this age are stuck with replacing the entire system (including all the handsets) when needing newer age features. The NEC customers need only change out their processors. Sorry for the advertisement but I think it's worth stating.

um caller id routing. I don't know if I am explaining what I am trying to do. I am sure if I am not its my fault being the lack of knowledge in this topic. For example, my home phone line has my phone number blocked so when I call people it shows up as blocked id. now if I call someone and they have there line setup to where they don't accept calls from anonymous callers. I get a error message telling me to hang up and dial *82 then the number to disable my restricted number. Thats what I want to setup here at work. I am not trying to route calls anywhere, i just want to know the phone number of anyone that calls here. and if they are blocking there caller id info, then they get told that the person they are trying to reach doesn't accept calls from blocked numbers and that they need to hang up and dial *82. If this is what call routing is I apologize for wasting your time. Thanks again for your help its greatly appriciated..

Caller ID Routing
The ability to route calls based on the caller ID received from the carrier. The feature works this way...
The caller ID arrives at the PBX. The PBX reads the caller ID information and looks for a matching routing table based on the received digits. If the digits received match a table they then follow the routing rules assigned to that table. If the the received digits not not match anything programmed (This is where NO caller ID would be found) the call then routes based on the received DID number.
That call can then be sent to whereever you want to route it to. That maybe voice mail, operator, trunk announcement, etc...
So YES if you don't get the caller ID it can be routed to an announcement in either the voice mail or the PBX stating that they must hang-up and call again from in front of the black curtain.
