I have a crystal report that lists multiple records based on a transaction number and start date, ordered on start date.

There is no other field available to reduce the record selection to one record.

I only wish to list the first record on the report.

How do I make my report list the first record only ?

Cheers

Use the TopN expert to restrict records which are not in the Top 1.

TopN only works if you are grouping.

If you have not groups and just want to see the first record, sort your report so that the desired record appears on the top of the report, and then conditionally suppress the other records. From the design window, right click the details section, select format section, and enter the following formula:

Recordnumber>1
