how can I setup to where a extension can only dial out to local and 911 calls??

Thanks in advance

go to terminals and sets, capabilities, then restriction filters.

Use filter 01 or I build filter 05 and allow 911 and restrict 0 and any, 1 and any, etc.

Then apply filter 01 or 05 to the set

I always had more luck building my own. It should already be built.

OK,, How can i see if I assigned the filter correctly?

From the extension that you assigned it to, try dialing out. If it is working, you should see "RESTRICTED CALL" in the display.
While you are at it, you might as well assign the * "star" to the filter too. People soon learn how to get past the restrictions by dialing *71 etc.

thats why you put * and any in your restriction too.

Namly,
You can skip the (ANY) in your example. First digit already satisfies the restriction.

Thanks for the info guys..

I assigned the extension to filter 01.. tryed to dial out on it and it worked..Thats why I dont think I did it right..

Dvannoy,
I usually use filter 5 like Namly suggested, that way you know it is clean. The filter 1 varies from software to software and is not consistant with factory settings.

Filter 5
Restriction 01 = 1
Restriction 02 = 0
Restriction 03 = *
Now a few other things to consider: Some Centrix lines require a 9 first. If that is the case, your restrictions would be:
Restriction 01 = 91
Restriction 02 = 90
Restriction 03 = 9*
Also, on very old Norstar systems, the * was used as an (ANY)instead of a *.

Also2, if you want the user to still be able to make toll free calls, you will need to put overrides in on the 01 restriction, like: 1800, 1888, 1877, 1866 etc.

I guess the best bet, if you are still having problems, is to give us some more info on your system vintage, and what you have to dial to get out.

another question guys..

can this be bypassed with a code? if so, how do i set that up?

Thanks

Yes, look under PASSWORDS, then COS pswds. Here you can set up a 6 digit password that you can assign a different filter with less restrictions to.
Then from any phone, the trusted user can hit FEATURE 68 and enter the 6 digit password to gain access to dial out.
