Hi there,

I am installing 2 UCx phones in a remote location off my UCx for a friend who owns a brewery.

I do not want him to be able to access anything other than:

-his 3 extensions
-retrieve parked calls
-his incoming SCA Line
-his outside dialing code (23)
-his paging zone (617)
-Voice Mail

I don't want any drunk people dialing me at 3am with the paging code.

Other dialing plans such as 9 and 7 and paging zones such as 611 and 612 need to be restricted.

Is there a way to set this up?

Thanks,

Joe

What you are looking for is a multi tenant switch. The Ucx server is not a multi tenant switch.

You can use the custom context page to restrict access to features and outbound routes. And you can even use Time Groups to restrict access to them at particular times of the day and date.

Navigate to the Custom Context page and create a context. Due to a bug in the GUI of UCx it will return you to the extensions page when you press the Apply bar. Navigate back to the Custom contexts page. Edit the context that you created and you will be able to allow or deny most of the features and resources (routes) that exist in the system. You can even create a time group to allow or restrict the feature or outbound route based on the time of day or even the date.

To use the custom context, navigate to the extensions page and select the phone you want to restrict. Click the drop down box associated with the Call restriction field and select the custom context you just created.

Hi Emtsupport,

Is it possible to create a custom dialing plan so that the brewery can only dial their internal extensions and none other on the system?

Thanks,

Just a thought.. The easiest solution there might be to just use sip phones for your friend, like one of the linksys spa phones. That way you could create custom dial plans in those phones to only allow exact matches to be dialed.

Here is an example dial plan i made based on your requirements (Assume his exts are 191-193)

(*97S0|19[1-3]S0|<:23>911S0|<:23>1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|<:23>[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|<#00:617>S0)

This way he can dial VM, his 3 extensions, direct outside calls with no access code (will automatically insert 23), and you can have him dial some code (I put #00) for all page so it doesn't overlap area code 617
