Do anyone know of a way to restrict access. Rsh (restricted shell wont work) I need the user to only be able isolated to a dir but they need access to "cd" command to navigate in the ioslated dir. I dont want them to go anywhere else on the server...I jus downloaded sudo but haven't used it before.

A user needs to Telnet & FTP files. I need to isolate a user to a dir (using command like cp, mv, vi, ftp, cd) I want them to be iolated but able to move around & edit in that dir (since dir are contained in the dir)

This concept is called chrooting a users. I have never tried this via telnet access. I have however successfuly chrooted users via ftp. Depending on which ftp daemon you use the procedure will very. I can describe the process I used with proftp. If needed

If you do a google search for "chrooting telnet"
you should find allot of useful info.
