I am wondering whether anyone is able to assist me. I am trying to restrict edit access to a form based on the information within the form.

I have a field called "Country" that allows users to enter different text values into it. All users can read all data, but I am wanting to restrict edit access to users that have a role that matches the value that has been entered into the "Country" field.

I have looked at Readers and Author fields but I can not get it to work as described above.

Would anyone be able to suggest how I might do this or a website that may provide me with more information on Lotus Notes Design Security.

For starters, I think you should read this FAQ I wrote a while ago about managing Reader/Author access : faq73-5664.

Once you have read it and understood the steps, come back to this thread and post your specific questions, I'll answer them as best I can.

Pascal.

I've got nothing to hide, and I'd very much like to keep that away from prying eyes.

Create a computed Authors field (call it whatever you like).
It should compute as the value of the Country field with square brackets around the value. This is how you signify that it's a role.

e.g. If the value of the Country field is Australia, the Authors field should compute as [Australia].
