Hi,

How can I setup an account to log into the restricted shell.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Simple really, add the user via smitty user :

In the initial program field add :

/usr/bin/Rsh

Press return, it may error if Rsh is not defined in /etc/security/login.cfg in the defined shells. If it does it just needs to be added to the list, comma delimited.

Cheers

Thank you for your response,
I tride your suggestion, but every time I log in as the user it gives me the following error message and disconnects me from the system.

-Rsh: APPDIR=/usr/igs: 0402-026 The specified data is not a valid identifier.

igs is a software we are using on our AIX box.

Any Idea

Thank you again.

You are not allowed to modify environment variables, iirc. You need to set that in /etc/environment or somewhere outside that user's shell. IBM Certified -- AIX 4.3 Obfuscation
