Looking for a way to restrict night shift staff from using email, Internet and other programs except Excel and Word applications (for time sheets and reports).Daytime person would not need restrictions. Already spent considerable time searching-nothing yet ?

Any advise will be appreciated !

Thanks

Have you tried your luck in the Server Forums?

Can you create a new group for the poor night shift workers and administer things through the new group. Are they on permanent night shift or do they change and rotate?

In all honesty I would do it via GPO, have two defined containers setup, one containing the day staff, the other containing the night staff. Define your two policies and apply them to each container.

The real world is not about exam scores, it's about ability.

Yes good ideas but these are stand alone units not on a network. They all have broadband cable modems as well for Internet access. I have used ZenWorks/Novell in the past for this type of issue when the workstations were on a network and it did "lock" things down nicely.

Thanks

Microsoft steady state application should do the trick.

You can lock down to one application if needs be. As these are not on a network it would be ideal, have used it myself for 'internet cafe' machines.

I used to have a handle on life... but it broke. Cpt. Red Bull

I second Steady State, we use it to lock down our accounting dept, so they canonly open the apps they need, Word, Excel and accounting software.

Yes, I think this will do it.
