Hi people, the situation is like this. I want to give some Powerplay users restrictions. Some of these restrictions are that they cant drilldown in someone elses detailed info and that they cant open all reports they want. How can I achieve this??? Do I have to use Access Manager???? Thx for your advice!!!!

Regards,

MiRRo

yup,
access manager would be the sensible way to go, coupled with views on dimensions on the cubes concerned. The documentation provided by Cognos is good to work from. It does add another maintenance chore, but does keep data secure. Best to plan out levels of access and the relevant users first, to prevent problems later (no-one likes it when you take away access/levels).
If you need to keep people out of certain cubes, you could just password-protect them.

Hi
Do you know what Document I should be looking at ( I have about 10 printen manuals in front of me ;) .I am trying to implement Access Manager Security in Transformer/Powreplay.

Thanks

For transformer, check out "pp.sbs.trns.pdf" or powerplay step-by-step transformer and look in the index under "user classes".

Hi drlex, I have an question about access manager. I can't find my .csa or .lea file. Can you tell me where I can find it. And my access manager starts always with an wizard is that right?? Thx.

MiRRo

'fraid I'm not good on the initial set-up of Access Manager (AM), so best someone with more practical experience jumps in here. All I can tell you is that the .lae file used here is on a networked drive, so that all users are pointed to it via configuration manager (services>AM runtime>Authentication Source>LAE).
sorry,
lex

The CSA file contains the needed information for Access Manager , to be able to find your LDAP or Active Directory.
It contains the LDAP address , Port number , time out , Ticket server address .

The LAE file is an extraction of your LDAP, it s very often use for remote users who take the file with them to be able to open cubes in their computer when they are home :)

If Access Manager is always starting with the wizard , it s because you have not configure Access Manager in your computer to point to the authentification server , it doesn't know where to find the LDAP or Active directory or the LAE file.
