I need to restrict an extension to be able to dial a 800 number such as using a calling card. I do not want the user to have long distance.

Nortel SL-1 model 51, system software version 19

Please advise

GIVE THEM A NCOS THAT CAN DIAL LOCAL ONLY, ALL TOLL FREE CALLS SHOULD GO OUT ALSO

If you set Terminals&sets->restrictions->set restrictions->filters->XXXXXX: to 01 for each of the schedules you use this would give you access to toll free and local calls but restrict long distance and 976 numbers (default for filter 01) this should give you a generic setup without having to set up a restriction filter.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I really didn't want to start a new one since one already existed for this topic.

I've been using filter 1 to restrict LD calls from phones not in the admin area of our building. However I have discovered that calls are being made to the 888 prefix (1-888-xxxx) inside our own own areacode. Since 1888 is an overide, the call goes thru.

There must be an easy way to prevent this?

01 Toll Restriction
01 0 NO Operator Assisted Calls
02 1 001 1800 Allow Toll Free
002 1888 Allow Toll Free
003 1877 Allow Toll Free
004 1866 Allow Toll Free
03 911 001 911 Specifically Allow 911
04 976 No Pay Calls
05 411 No Directory Assistance
06 5551212 No Directory Assistance
07 ...5551212 No Directory Assistance

I'm confused... 1-888-xxx-xxxx is a toll free call. Are you trying to restrict 888-xxxx a local call?

Not all calls inside my areacode are toll free.

In this case, the caller is calling 1-888-xxxx which is a long distance number. The filter is allowing it thru because it see's the 1888 as the first four numbers.

all the toll free numbers are 'logical' numbers, they are not actual phone numbers
if you dial a 1, then you HAVE to dial 10 more digits

thats my understanding ...

i dont get the problem you are having

I understand now.

I'm afraid you will have to restrict 1-888 to block the 888 office code. Unfortunately your area has not yet gone to 10 digit dialing.
