vista isn't working out for me. to many apps i love can't run or can't run as usual. i only upgraded for DX 10(gaming) and it seems my pc is too old to take proper advantage of it anyway. what steps should i take to get xp back? am i right in thinking that DX 10 isn't worth the trouble?

thread1583-1350480 might be a start.

Basic process is to save data, format, and reload, but as I understand, you'll need to take out the Vista bootloader, too. The process described in the thread:

- Boot from the XP CD
- Go into the recovery console
- Run fixmbr
- Run fixboot
- Re-boot and get the installer to do a FULL hard drive format
- Install XP.

Seems to be the proper one, unless you do something like Darik's Boot and Nuke.
