I have a 2000 Advanced Server that just went kablooey on me. I've done full backups, with remote agents and open file agents.

I follow the instructions layed out in Technote ID: 236286 from the Veritas site (which is the same as in the manual) and the restore completes successfuly, but when I reboot the registry isn't restored and none of the profiles are restored or anything. In other words, it doesn't 'restore to it's pre-disaster state' like the instructions say it will.

Am I missing something? HELP!

I checked the last FULL restore from the top level. Is there somewhere else I have to check to restore the system state?

I did select the System State to be backed up..

thanks,
J

hennieG,

Thanks for the feedback. I took another look and I wasn't restoring the System State after all. However, it was no easy task getting the System State to restore. Long procedure. With the server being a PII-800 with a half gig of RAM it's kind of slow and the whole procedure of loading the stock O/S, restoring 3.1GB of data (system drive) and the System State takes like 3 hours. Sad.

Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction...
J
