I'm fairly new to ARCServe and I wanted to test restoring a DB I made a backup of. I am trying to restore it to a different server.
I am restoring to a SQL7 DB to a SQL7 Server. I've tried a whole bunch of different methods and none seem to want to restore it.
I followed the steps described on the cai support site for restoring a sql database with no results.
I tried restoring the database with the same name and with a different name, then I tried selecting Restore by Files or groups with no success.
The error I keep getting when I try restoring the DB is this:
"The file 'D:\MSSQL7\Data\scs_home_invoice_Data.MDF' cannot be used by RESTORE. Consider using the WITH MOVE option to specify a valid location."
The file it is referring to seems to be the physical path that is has stored on the tape. I am specifying a valid location in the field "Move to physical location" which is different than the file/path it is referring to in the error.
Hopefully I have provided enough information? If any clarification is needed I will be glad to provide.
Any help that can be given will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Chris
