My HD on my laptop physically crashed, and I had a company disassemble and send me the important data on 2 DVD's. I'm trying to restore my Outlook and outlook express information.

Can anyone point me to where the information would have been originally stored on the first hard drive?

I did NOT make a backup or restoration or export of the files.

Thanks.

Hi

I would suggest:

- Set folder options in windows explorer to show hidden files and folders

- Get outlook and OE basically working (not necessarily account setup, but get past the initial setup wizard so minimal files get created)

- Shut down outlook and OE

- Search the new hard drive for .dbx files (outlook express) and .pst files (outlook). Also look for .pab (personal address book) files, just in case.

- Back them up

- Search the DVD's for those same extensions and dump them into the appropriate folders. You will likely find more of each than you did on the new disk - take them all.

- Start up OE and Outlook and see if it worked.

Jock,
Thanks for the help. My problem yesterday was with getting to see the hidden files, and then I was trying to replace the appropriate files. OE would not let me change several of the files. Once I found them, I copied them to a new location on the new disk and pointed the store folder to the new location. Outlook was much easier than OE 6.

Thanks,

BL
