Restoring Outlook 6.0 dbx files

I've got some important eMail to backup in Outlook Express 6.0. Let's say I compact the inbox folder, thus creating a dbx file called inbox.dbx which is stored on a zip drive. How do I restore the dbx file later if I lose the information in my system's inbox? Do I follow the same procedure for other folders as I would for the inbox?
