Hi
Im trying to restore my nt4 service pack 6 server
to a different machine using backup exec 8.6
Ill say upfront that this is my first time at trying to
do a full restore. The original server is up and running
fine, but I have this new system thats alot faster with more memory and all I want to do is use it in place of the server that is currently running. I did a full backup of
the c and d drive and chose the backup registry option.
I installed the new computer with nt4 and put service pack
6 on it. both computers have 2 mirrored harddrives. I installed backup exec on the new computer and did a full restore and chose to overwrite everything and restore registry. It dont work.... It does the full restore and when I reboot I get the great "atleast one service failed blah blah" I go into events and see that the mirror sets are screwing up and also this msdtc failed to start. My shares are there but no users or network printers are there. What am I doing wrong and is there an easier way?
Thanks
Oh yes, its a PDC

ok,
iv made progress!! I had the 2 harddrives set up different
than whats on the current server. As soon as I fixed that
and ran rdisk then rebooted it came up with no errors with
the mirror set and my users, printers, and nt workstation
are all there. :) I keep getting this msdtc error. I went
into services and there is msdtc service listed. I went to
the other server and looked in services and it doesnt even
list msdtc at all! Im also getting a unable to load pmci.
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Heck, i must be learning something.
I fixed the other problems too! Just went to support.microsoft.com and entered the error msg and it walked me through fixing it.
