OK. Doing some testing and when I start the restore it goes and finds what tapes hold the data and then... Loads each tape one by one in a device. So, I am only gettting throughput from one device and not from say 3 devices at a time. Is this a Legato "bug" or so I have set something else up.
I am running NT 4.0 Sp 6a
Networker 6.0.1
Storagetek 9710 with 3 DLT 7000.
Thanks

Yup, all that is fine. The issue is only with restores not backups. I am debating if I should raise a call with Legato about it but I am sure you all know how fast and simply they resolve calls.

If we are doing a restore from multiple tapes we use nwrecover. Call a single instance of nwrecover on the client and establish what files are on each tape. Then call mwrecover from multiple sessions each calling for a restore of the files corresponding to a single volume. That way all three tapes will be restored in parallel. You may experience bottlenecks if you are restoring to a single disc but it should work out quicker

Thanks. In full DRP that is what we would do but I wasn't too sure if I was missing something. Like maybe a hidden option somewhere thats says "use more then one tape device when restoring"
