Hello. I have an old .bkf file from last year that I need to restore a file from. I tried double clicking on my file which brings up the Windows backup utility.

The left pane shows "Expand the desired media item", but there are a TON of media sets in this list.

I can't seem to match the media set with the .bkf file that I want to restore.

Is there a way to load the .bkf file that I want to restore the file without having to match the media set in the backup utility?

bmacbmac,

Click on start > run > ntbackup and enter

If your Backup Utility appears in a Wizard mode, clear the always start in wizard mode, exit and start it again.

Once back in NT Backup, click on Restore and Manage Media, click on Tools (menu bar) and click on catalog a backup file.

Navigate to your old BKF file. Now, once finished it will appear on the left hand pane (amongst other cataloged files).
Now look at the backup.bkf created date. Match it with your backup file (in Windows Explorer, right click on the file, properties and date created).

Hope it helps.

Michael
