I take it you think the messages are still on the Exchange server? if so....
Use the EXMERGE utility. Run on the exchange server, and it will merge the mailfile to a PST file. You can then open the PST in outlook as a personal folder, or import.
Note, the exmerge utility has been updated since released on the resource tools. Search microsoft KB for newer versions.
If all of the email is gone from the mailbox:
-Build an NT server and put it in the domain. Make it identical in service pack level as the target server. Name doesn't matter.
-Install Exchange and put it in the same Site and Org. DO NOT join the existing site. Create a new one but make it the same site and org. Ensure it is service packed to the same level as the target.
-Restore the IS only to this server. DO NOT restore the directory.
-Start the IS.
-Go to Exchange admin,...servers. Select the server and click properties. Click Advanced, Consistency Adjuster.
-Click the top box and then All consistancies. Click OK.
-Once that is done you should be able to use Exmerge to suck the email from the new mailbox and put it in the old mailbox.
We have a restore server online at all time so we just have to perform the restore w/out always having to build the server.
Any questions, let me know.
