Can anyone tell me if its a best practice to restore a virtualized server from a snapshot?
Does anyone know if replication via veeam has any side effects
We had a major power failure and our emerg generator failed so all servers went through a dirty shutdown
When the time came to bring my primary IPO server back up there was issues so our vm guy just restored from a snapshot backup via veeam
However after coming backup to the state it was in 2 days prior(no changes were made)I'm finding some stupid issues such as DIDs no longer working, the vmpro would could connect and see modules but no mailboxes. I'm wondering if the snapshot restore had anything to do with it

TIA

Snapshots aren't supported without shutting down the VM.

That being said I've restored this way once and it worked out fine, no guarantee though.

You might wanna upload a backup IP Office configuration to see if all the DIDs and mailboxes start working again.

Snapshot
The virtual machine must be powered off before taking or deleting a snapshot. The VMware snapshot feature can provide a fall back point to the previous instance of a virtual machine. This can provide a fall back option when performing operations such as upgrades. After performing an upgrade operation, it is recommended that you delete the snapshot. Running a virtual machine with snapshots degrades its performance. Note that deleting a snapshot can take some time to complete.
• The virtual machines disk size cannot be changed if any snapshot have been taken of the virtual machine. To resolve this any existing snapshot must first be deleted.
