When we do a restore, in order to get a list of the media needed, we have to look at the the job history for the machine, and make a list of all the tapes from the last full to the current incremental - is there an easier/faster way to get a listing of media needed for a restore job?
thanks in advance
C.

You can browse and select the file(s) to be restored. Once you have everything selected, there is a "List Media" option that you can select rather than initiating the actual restore. It runs just like every other job in the job controller window, and when done, will give you a list of what media is required as well as the current location of the needed media (provided you are using the vault-tracker feature).

Hope this helps.

Thanks JG5, it's funny, my supervisor found this menu this morning. The context sensitive menus in commvault are a source of continuous *joy*. The list media option is only available on the backup set right click, not on the file system..... aarrggh.
thanks again,
Chris
