Im trying to restore Exchange from cloned tapes, but when I started the restore, its looking for original tapes. How do I delete the original information from media databases?
It will ask for the original tapes (and will indicate the originals under "Required Volumes", but as long as all the savesets are available locally, it *should* be able to retrieve the data from the clones. (Yes, I've done this a couple of times)
Thanks for your input. You mean to say though it asks for the original tapes, it will restore from cloned tapes? So I should just ignore the error msgs in Networker Admin!?
According to the admin guide, you need to mark all the savesets on the original volume as suspect. Once this is done, it will look for the cloned version.
To mark a saveset "suspect" in Unix do the following:
-Select Media > Volumes or click the Volumes toolbar button to open the Volumes window
-Select the save set whose status needs to be changed from the Save Set attribute
-Select Save Set>Change Status>Suspect to change the status to suspect
To mark a saveset "suspect" in Windows do the following:
-Select the Volumes tab
-Right-click the volume containing your save set and select Show Save Sets from the pop-up menu
-Select the save set whose status needs to be changed from Save Set list
-Select Suspect and then click OK
Once you have finished recovering, then go back and change the savesets on the original volume back to "normal".
