I'm using ARCserve 9 on Win 2K server
I scheduled an incremental backup of a remote server and I'de like to know something more about the restore by session.
It's 3 days that the job runs.
If I select the restore by session operation, I see a session for each day the job run.
This means that I have the history of the files saved ?
In other words I have a copy of the files for every days ?
If yes, how many days can I get on line ?
It depends (I suppose) on my disk space ?

Thank
Giorgio

The info staying in arcserve database depending on the pruning period you assigned in Server Admin, the default is 30 days you can change it to whatever you like, it is also it depend on your disk space since if it reach your disk space limit it may corrupt the database,My advice is to keep it for 30 database ,also always monitor the size of database folder in arcserve path.
Even if you info get deleted from arcserve database for a certin tape you can easily bring by using the merge utility

I do an incremental backup every days.
I set the pruning period to 14 days.
Browsing the session creating for each day, as well I found only the modified files.
I have a full backup only the first day I start the job.
So if I want to get a file that its has never been modified since the start of the job I have to get it from the first full backup session.
At the 15th day, when the pruning job will delete the first day, where I'll get the files that have never been modified and that, for this reason, were only in the first (deleted) full backup job ?

Thank you

Anytime you can merge the tape to arcserve database and then you will be able to see the sessions again, since merge function is to scan the tape and find the catolog file and update Arcserve database.

to merge the tape go to manager-->Utilites-->Merge and make sure the required tape in tape drive.

NOte:Merge taking longtime so try to merge the required sessions only you can specify the session which you want to merge
