Restore with AS Disaster Recovery Option

Has anyone ever tried to restore a full backup to a physically totaly diferent system with the Disaster Recovery Option (because the original system was not available anymore because of a major disaster) ?

The option works perfectly if you restore to an identical system. But I haven't been able to do this with a different system. Can anyone explain why and what we need to take care of to succeed. Which are the key components that have to be common to both physical systems for the restore to work successfully ?

When you make the set of disaster recovery diskettes you have the option of making a generic set or one specificly for the server. The generic set will allow you to restore to a different server, but the other option will not. [sig][/sig]
